Our Village of Honor initiative helps warriors who have been wounded in combat by providing transitional housing while they reintegrate into civilian life. We have seven single-family homes dedicated to this purpose, located close to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This provides a supportive community and safe, quality housing for warriors and their families.

For warriors who have been deployed, the wounds of war can be both visible and invisible. Active duty service members and veterans often struggle with post-deployment transition. This initiative focuses on promoting connectivity between service members and veterans alike after they return home from the battlefield. 24-7 Battle Buddies is a service dog program that matches canines to wounded military veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each 24-7 Battle Buddy is carefully selected for their partner. The training is then specific to the warrior’s needs and intended to assist in successfully navigating everyday life. To date, we have 43 dogs working with their Battle Buddies throughout the country – from Seattle, Washington to Staten Island, New York.
